Robert D. Dyer

obert D. Dyer, age 45, of Arapahoe, Nebraska, passed away on Thursday, March 2, 2017, at his home. He was born on March 20, 1971 at Lewistown, Montana, to Darrell and Bonnie (Wombold) Dyer.

Robert graduated high school from Winifred High School, at Winifred, with the class of 1989. Two weeks after graduation, he went to boot camp in the U.S. Army at Fort Leonard Wood, Mo. He served in Germany and Africa before being honorably discharged in 1995.

He went on to Denver Automotive and Diesel College and earned an Associate’s Degree in Diesel Mechanics. He graduated with Summa Cum Laude honors. After his schooling, he started installing windshields for 6-and-a-half years.

He married Dixie Hilker on Aug. 5, 2006, at Arapahoe, Neb. To this union, one son was born: Ryder. They made their home in Arapahoe, and he started working at Allmand Brothers in Holdrege, Neb., and has worked there for 12 years. He was a member of the Edison American Legion and Evangelical Free Church of Arapahoe, Neb. and volunteered with the Arapahoe Fire and Rescue Squad.

He was preceded in death by his parents.

Robert is survived his wife, Dixie Dyer of Arapahoe, Neb., and sons Ryder Dyer, Wyatt and Tyler Kipp of Arapahoe, Neb.; sister, Helen and husband Neil Rich of Winifred; brother Darell and wife Krista Dyer of Winifred, Bill and wife Shelly Dyer of Lewistown, Joel and wife DeBra Dyer of Atlanta, Neb., Bert Challans of Hope, Kan., Allan and wife Jan Dyer of Colorado Springs, Colo.; sisters Crystal and husband Kyle Miller of Craig, Colo., Donna and husband Terry Tannihill of Arapahoe, Neb.; brothers-in-law Shane and wife Rhonda Hilker, and Kevin and wife Tami Hilker, both of Arapahoe, Neb., and many nieces and nephews.

Visitation will be Sunday, March 5, 2017, from 4 p.m. till 8 p.m. at Wenburg Funeral Chapel, 652 Main Street, of Arapahoe, Neb. Funeral services are Monday, March 6, 2017, at 10:30 a.m. at Ella Missing Center, 411 Sixth Street, Arapahoe, Neb., with Pastor Nathan Goshert officiating. Inurnment will be at Arapahoe Cemetery, Arapahoe, Neb. Military rites given by Edison American Legion, of Edison, Neb.
