Gianforte wins Fergus County with 66%

Election Administrator Rana Wichman reports the unofficial results for Fergus County in Thursday's Special Election to fill Montana's open seat in the House of Representatives are as follows:

Greg Gianforte (R), 2,986 votes, 66.02%

Rob Quist (D), 1,183 votes, 26.26%

Mark L. Wicks (L), 336 votes, 7.43%

Thirty provisional ballots remain to be counted in Fergus County.

As of 11 p.m. Thursday night, with 57% of the precincts reporting in across the state, the Montana Secretary of State's website showed Greg Gianforte with a comfortable lead of 50% of the votes to Rob Quist's 44%. Statewide Mark Wicks had 6%. The Secretary of State was projecting a 49% voter turnout statewide.
