Elias J. Walter

With heavy heart, we announce the peaceful passing of Elias J. Walter, 91, of Spring Creek Colony on Monday evening, Jan. 2, 2017 at his home. Elias was born May 3, 1925 in Lethbridge, Alberta, Canada to Jacob and Susanna (Hofer) Walter. The family moved to the Spring Creek Colony in 1944, where he worked and made his home until the time of his death. He was united in marriage to Kathryn Stahl on Nov. 1, 1964. Dad was an avid gardener, he took pride in growing flowers especially roses and the colony’s garden for some years. He also tended to various other Colony duties, such as ranch cattle, dairy calves, ducks, geese and chickens. He took pride in his work with all his heart. He had a loving touch to everything he did. He was always there when anyone needed a helping hand. He will be greatly missed by all. He is survived by his wife, Kathryn, of Spring Creek Colony and their five children: Joanne (George) Hofer of Ferintosh, Alberta, Eli and Margaret (Pete) Walter both of Spring Creek Colony, Wayne of Hobson, Sarah (Toby) Hofer of King Colony; brother Darius (Mary) and sisters-in-law Katie and Rachel, all of Spring Creek Colony; one sister Dora (Joe) of Ford Creek Colony; seven grandchildren: Beverly, Caleb, Abigail, Haugen, Tristan, Justin and Hailey, and several nieces and nephews. His grandchildren were his pride and joy. He was preceded in death by his parents and four brothers: Jake, George, Joe and Paul. Funeral Services for Elias J. Walter will be Thursday, Jan. 5, 2017 at 10 a.m. at the Spring Creek Colony with burial to follow in the Spring Creek Colony Cemetery. The Cloyd Funeral Home is assisting the family.
