Art District to host slide show of Pryor Mountain Mustangs

 

The Lewistown Arts and Entertainment District is sponsoring a slide show presentation of Patty Thompson’s “Summer Solstice visit to the Pryor Mountains to photograph the Pryor Mountain Mustangs. Thompson said the mustangs are descendants of the Spanish steeds brought to America by the Conquistadors. 

The presentation will take place Sunday, July 10th at 3 p.m., at Chokecherry Lane, 311 W. Main Street.

 

EQC to review evaluations at meeting

 

The Environmental Quality Council of the legislature meets July 20 and 21 to discuss a handful of state agency legislative proposals and the impact of decreased natural resources revenue on agency budgets. The council will also fine-tune its federal roads study report.

In addition, the EQC will review program evaluations for real estate management at the Department of Natural Resource and Conservation and hard rock mining and major facility siting activities at the Department of Environmental Quality. Comments are encouraged from anyone with an interest.

Updates on the fire season and the Orphan Share remedial action and sage grouse habitat conservation programs will also be provided.

The meeting begins at 10 a.m. on July 20 in room 317 of the Capitol.

State Emergency Response surveys to be completed at meeting

 

The Local Emergency Planning Committee will be meeting at the County Complex on Thursday, July 14 at noon. During this meeting, members will be completing the State Emergency Response Commission information survey. Do not fill this out before the meeting as there is a need to discuss the survey together. Other items to be discussed include future and department planning, EOP update and the Winifred site.

The next meeting is scheduled for Thursday, Aug. 11 at the City Complex.

This meeting is open to the public.

 

House and Garden Tour coming up soon

 

The second annual House and Garden Tour, a fundraiser for Central Montana Family Planning, will be Sunday, July 17, from 11 a.m.-2 p.m.. Tickets are available in advance at Alpine Floral; for more details call 535-8811 or email to familyplanning@cmtfp.org

 

Swing to the Groovy Gaffers this Saturday

 

The Groovy Gaffers will provide the music for the July 9 Saturday afternoon dance. The band features Dave Robertson, Lauri Lohrer, Don Engle and Barbara Engle on guitars and vocals. The dance goes from 2-4 pm.If you enjoy dancing to good country music, come and join in the fun. Dancers of all ages are welcome. There is a short coffee/cookie break at 3 p.m.

 

Rodeo Committee meeting July 18

 

The Central Montana Fair Rodeo Committee will meet Monday, July 18 at 6 p.m. at the Trade Center. Items to be discussed include sponsorship packages, special events, helper personnel, flags and banners. This meeting is open to the public.

 

TBID meets to discuss budgets and billboards

 

The next Lewistown Tourism Business Improvement District meeting is scheduled for Tuesday, July 12, at 11 a.m. in the Snowy Mountain Development Corporation conference room. Items to be discussed include the Montana Island Challenge, the 2016/17 fiscal budget and billboard opportunities.

County Commissioners hear from Friends of the Pool Monday

 

The Fergus County Commissioners meet Monday, July 11 at 2 p.m. at their office on the second floor of the courthouse. 

Items on the agenda include Friends of the Pool presentation, amended agreement with City of Lewistown for City Attorny support and closure of Fergus County Road 1063. The meeting is open to the public.

 

School board considers Adult Learning Center funding

 

The Lewistown School Board meets Monday, July 11 at 6 p.m. at the Lincoln Board Room, 215 7th Avenue South. Items on the agenda include discussion of Adult Learning Center funding, 2015-16 annual report, committee reports, investment report, High School retirement fund budget amendment, end of year transfers, report from school superintendent, approve extension of Winifred bus routes into Lewistown and approve personnel report. 

The meeting is open to the public.

 

Fergus County Fair Commission meets July 11

 

The Fergus County Fair Commission Board will meet on Monday, July 11 at 5:30 p.m. in the Trade Center to discuss committee and fairgrounds reports, box office drop box, grandstands handrail project, water truck repairs and wall/fence replacement, tree management, equipment rentals and other items of business. This meeting is open to the public.

Please be advised that any non-agenda comments for the Board will be heard during Open Public Participation. Please limit your comments to assure all have time to speak and if possible, provide written information on your discussion. If a group is here for comments on a particular non-agenda item, please appoint a spokesman to present on behalf of the group. The Chair –if deemed necessary– may limit the time of comment.

Port Authority meets July 13

 

The Port Authority will be meeting in the sheriff’s complex at 8 a.m. on Wednesday, July 13. Items to be discussed include a presentation from ROC, Bear Gulch pictographs and new board members.
